How many of you are health nuts?
by Harvard Illiterate 411 inthere was/is a sister in my old hall who was a pharmaceutical sales rep and she was a huge proponent of anything in the drug industry.
when someone had a headache, she was the first to say "take an asprin.
" now my husband and i are what you might call old hippies.

I am totally with you on the natural foods and now all my doctors have resorted to finding any natural remedies possible before writing a prescription. They are simply done with all the allergic reactions and drug sensitivity. I am in my mid 60'S and all my numbers are right on, normally workout on a daily basis, eat extremely healthy and the only medication which I take is a very high dose of a migraine preventative that is unavoidable. -

what buzz word from the jw's do you hate & why?
by Sabin inso my hubby has been on a bit of a roll about the jdubs, we were talking a lot about them & he said the buzz word he hate's the most is "worldly" why?
because he say's "with that one word they have condemned (according to their believes) a person as being worthy of nothing but death.

Here are two more the "Elder" used that drove me nuts:
Satin - I finally told him in the last email do not mention him again because I swear you worship Satin rather than Jehovah.
We will see - he used this phrase everytime he needed to say NO, the man could not say the word no.

Never a JW but I will add my .02 cents. The JWS call apostates mentally diseased and the apostates call those still stuck in the cult mentally diseased (partly correct). IMHO after watching the ARC those who are mentally diseased are the Elders and straight up the chain of command, to be able to treat another human being in this manner is just not right, to take an oath to tell the truth and out right lie. My mother has full blown Alz she does not say I do not remember as much as those Elders said I do not remember.
As a wordly person my vote is for two phrases:
Wordly people
Mentally diseased (elders on up till they wake up and exit the cult)

Do you still believe in God?
by FormerlySandL ini never thought i would admit it, but i don't.
i might superstitiously have some kind of doubt but digging a bit deeper in my heart i really don't believe in god.
as a human i could never just sit and watch people be tortured, live years of abuse, suffer from illness and disabilities and all the other awful things people have to endure day after day without doing something about it.

I have 2 questions for you to think about, I am not looking for answers:
If God had created Religion how many would there honestly be?
Who wrote the Bible and how do you really know that it is the word of God? Do you really think a loving and caring God would want all the hate and fighting that is in the Old Testament?

Good morning FormlySandL,
I was never a JW, only introduced to the religion by the"Elder". I gave up on religion totally 16 years ago as they are all man made. I believe in God and I am very spiritual. About 40 years ago I asked a very similar question to your OP when I lost my first son. The best advise I received was a book, When Bad Things Happen To Good People by Harold Kushner.
It has helped me over the years to remember that God is not responsible for what goes on in our lives but is there to walk with us through our good times and lean on through our struggles.
I also have hanging on the wall in my bedroom a poem which I read every morning and night. It has been made into a song by an American country singer.
Footprints in the Sand
BTW, welcome to the forum and good luck to the rest of your life cult free I am sure it will be wonderful. This forum helped me a lot when the "elder" said good bye have a nice life after 5 years. With no warning, nothing just a bloody email.

Australia - Elder Jailed Over Sex Abuse
by OrphanCrow inanother one.. https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/wa/a/30810834/church-elder-is-jailed-over-sex-abuse/.
a jehovah’s witness elder who sexually assaulted two vulnerable teenagers he met through the church was sentenced to three years jail yesterday over the “destructive” abuse.. david frank pople, 68, met the boys through the safety bay congregation of the church and assaulted them between 1989 and 1996.. one of the teens reported the sexual assaults to elders in 1997 but police were not made aware of the abuse until he filed a police report in 2014.pople was forcibly ejected from the church for being “insufficiently repentant” in 1997 and readmitted the following year at his request.. district court judge troy sweeney accepted pople was genuinely remorseful but said he had interfered with his victims’ natural maturing process in a “very destructive way”.“a message must be sent that child abuse is abhorrent and will not be tolerated by any civilised society,” she said.“they were vulnerable because they were young and because you were a church elder and their boss.”.
when pople admitted assaulting one of the boys during a conversation with an elder in the 1990s, he was told a judicial committee would be formed to deal with the issue.the elders spoke to pople in an apparent attempt to determine his level of remorse and later sent a letter to certain members of the congregation explaining in great detail why he had been ejected.. pople was in his 40s when he assaulted the boys at work, on his yacht and in his shoalwater home.he was close friends with the parents of his first victim and had helped the second victim with his bible studies.. defence lawyer nick scerri told the court pople was candid with the leadership of the church and made “very frank admissions” about some aspects of the offending in 1997.he said his client has been living three lives and was “deeply unhappy” when he assaulted the boys.“he had the life of the family man, the father, the husband,” mr scerri said.

A question on natural selection
by The Rebel inlast friday my boy of ten was very late back from school, so i called the school, they called the police, and to cut a long horrible exsperience short he had been helping a younger boy fly his kite.. but what has occurred to me is that when orlando was 5 years old he was totally dependent on mummy and daddy, whilst horses, cats, birds and other animals are born and are independent within days.. so my question on natural selection is, how are we humuns still here?.

My heart goes out to you. The grow out to you, they grow up. Cherish every moment. Mine are now 30 and 24. Yes they do forget to tell mom when kite flying has taken priority over coming home and they just do not get how come mom would ever panic over such little matters. Now my son has 2 of his own and he is finally getting it 30 years later, only after he caused me many a heart attacks. -

Slimboyfat,
Never a JW, so a disfellowshipped person cannot talk to active JW and they cannot talk to disfellowshipped people who are they supposed to talk to for that year or two till they get reinstated?
This whole thing is so unloving and so not supported by any Bible principles.
